Visit Saint-Tropez

Saint-Tropez is known for its small port, located in the Côte d'Azur region in sunny southern France. Saint-Tropez is located between Marseille and Nice. This world famous town with many faces is just a 45 minute drive away along the coast. Saint-Tropez has luxurious yachts in the harbor, international film stars living their life, a fantastic nightlife and other beautifull places that are worth visiting.

History

The name Saint-Tropez comes from the Saint called Saint Torpes, this Roman martyr is said to have been beheaded in the Italian city of Pisa because he did not want to renounce his faith. His body was washed up at the location of the fishing village and that is how the name came about. In the churche of Notre Dame (Eglise Notre Dame de l'Assomption) is a bust of this Saint.

Taste the atmosphere

Would you like to taste the atmosphere? Stroll along the docks of the harbor while enjoying the view of the water with the beautiful luxury yachts showing off. While walking you will come across several local eateries where you can settle down on a cozy terrace where you can enjoy a drink / snack.

Citadel with defense tower

The Citadel was built around 1600 around Saint-Tropez. It is build on a mountain and is equipped with large cannons and a well-built outer wall. Feel free to take a look at the maritime museum where the history of the city is exhibited. Don't you like a museum? There is also a beautiful view of the city from the top of the mountain: Stand still and admire the surroundings.

Butterfly museum La Maison de Papillons

The house of the butterflies is located in the center and has an impressive collection of personal butterflies by the artist Danny Lartigue. More than 35 thousand copies have been collected. These are exhibited in an environment where their colors come into their own and this leaves the visitors astonished. In short, Saint Tropez is small but a beautiful place to discover!
